Silver Spring Teen Wanted for Murder Arrested at Airport

Gaithersburg, MD - A 15-year-old Silver Spring teen has been arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with a double homicide that occurred over Memorial Day weekend.

Onyx Santana Austin was arrested on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Dulles International Airport. Austin was identified by detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division as a suspect in the shooting deaths of D’Andre Wint and Quincy Johnson, both 20 years old, on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in Nolte Local Park.

During the investigation, detectives gathered evidence linking Austin to the homicides and requested a warrant for his arrest on August 26. Austin had left the country after the shootings and was taken into custody by US Customs and Border Protection upon his return to the United States.

He has been charged as an adult and is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
