Gaithersburg, MD - Montgomery County Police have arrested a Rockville man following a shooting incident that occurred on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at approximately 4:14 p.m. in the 14100 block of Whispering Pines Court in Silver Spring. Upon arrival, 4th District officers recovered six shell casings and found two bullet holes in nearby apartment buildings.
An investigation revealed that an adult male and female were engaged in an argument with a group of individuals at the time of the shooting. During a search of the area, officers observed a male subject, later identified as 33-year-old Jayson Edwards, matching the description of the individual involved in the shooting. An adult female was seen by officers leaving the area in a black Toyota Camry.
The 4th District Special Assignment Team initiated a traffic stop of the black Toyota Camry on New Hampshire Avenue at Cannon Road. Officers identified Edwards as the front passenger, who had an active warrant from Prince George’s County. Edwards was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant, and the female driver was held and released.
Search warrants were obtained for the Toyota Camry and the residence of the female driver and Edwards. During the search of the residence, officers recovered two handguns, a .22-caliber and a PMF 9mm, along with spent shell casings.
Edwards has been charged with first-degree assault and reckless endangerment. He is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit (CPU) under the warrant for both his outstanding charges in Prince George’s County and the charges related to this case.
