Damascus Man Charged with Rape; Additional Victims a Concern

For Immediate Release: Thursday, November 14, 2024

Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police–Special Victims Investigation Division (SVID) have arrested and charged 28-year-old Irvin Ariel Portillo, of Damascus, with multiple offenses related to the rape and sexual abuse of three juvenile females.

SVID detectives believe there may be more victims and encourage them to come forward.

On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, detectives began an investigation into the alleged rape of a teenage girl by Portillo. During the course of the investigation, two other victims were identified.

On Friday, November 8, members of the 5th District Community Action Team served Portillo with an arrest warrant on charges including second-degree rape and third-degree sexual offense. Portillo was taken into custody and processed at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
