Montgomery County Man in Custody After Injuring Two Police Officers

Gaithersburg, MD - Montgomery County Police have arrested 28-year-old Michael MacCrae Shannon following an incident on Monday, December 16, 2024, that left two 6th District officers injured.

 

Around 11:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person in distress in the 7900 block of Otter Cove Court. When officers arrived, Shannon became aggressive and attacked them. Officers were able to gain control of Shannon and take him into custody without requiring additional assistance.

 

One officer sustained a serious injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but is expected to recover.

 

Shannon was evaluated on the scene by Montgomery County Fire Rescue before being transported to a local hospital, and once medically cleared he was transported to the Central Processing Unit. He is being held without bond and faces charges of second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and intoxicated endangerment.
