Gaithersburg, MD – Two men have been arrested and charged with multiple drug and firearm offenses in Silver Spring.
32-year-old Kendel Tramel Young of Capitol Heights, MD, and 21-year-old Gerardo Lovo of Lovettsville, VA, were taken into custody on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
At approximately 10:15 p.m., officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police 3rd district observed a drug transaction in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1100 block of East West Highway.
Officers stopped a vehicle driven by Gerardo Lovo and recovered drugs in his possession. Officers also located powder and crack cocaine following a search of his vehicle, leading to his arrest and charges.
The second vehicle, driven by Young, rammed a police cruiser in an unsuccessful attempt to get away. A loaded Glock 29 10mm handgun was found in Young’s possession after the arrest. The firearm had been reported stolen from Prince George’s County. Officers also recovered drugs from the car.
Young has been charged with first-degree assault, CDS distribution with a firearm, CDS distribution of narcotics, CDS possession with intent to distribute cannabis, possession of a loaded handgun on person, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.
Lovo has been charged with CDS possession (not cannabis) and CDS possession with intent to distribute narcotics (cocaine).
Both Young and Lovo were transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where they are being held without bond.
