Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section have arrested and charged 36-year-old Michael Brown, of Suitland, Maryland, with a shooting that occurred on Sunday, November 3, 2024, in the parking lot at 8200 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.
The investigation has revealed that at approximately 3:54 a.m., the suspect was parked at the location next to another vehicle when he observed 3rd District officers responding to a call for service with their lights and sirens activated. The suspect then got out of the vehicle and discharged his firearm into the air, firing four shots. The suspect got back in his vehicle and left the scene.
Officers heard the sound of gunshots and responded to the location, where they recovered shell casings.
Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage in the area and obtained a description of the suspect.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Michael Brown, who is prohibited from owning and possessing a firearm.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant against Brown, charging him with discharge of guns in urban area.
On Wednesday, March 26, detectives arrested Brown in Suitland, Maryland and located inside his backpack a loaded and unregistered handgun.
Brown was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
