Suspect Arrested in Connection with Strong-Arm Robbery

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged 45-year-old Michael Powers with a strong-arm robbery and theft that occurred on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

 

At approximately 7:26 a.m., 5th District officers responded to the 7-Eleven near the 13000 block of Wisteria Drive in Germantown for the report of a suspicious situation.

 

Upon arrival, store employees told officers a robbery had just occurred.

 

The investigation revealed that Powers entered the store carrying a grocery bag, walked behind the counter, and began filling the bag with tobacco products. When an employee attempted to intervene, Powers shoved him, leading to a physical altercation behind the counter. Powers then took a small amount of cash from the counter and fled the scene.

 

At approximately 4:15 p.m. the same day, 5th District officers located Powers at a nearby bus stop, where he was taken into custody.


Powers was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is currently being held without bond.
