Detectives Investigate Toddler’s Fall from Fifteenth Floor Apartment

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - Special Victims Investigations Division are investigating an incident involving a 2-year-old who fell from the 15th floor of an apartment building in the 11200 block of Oak Leaf Drive in White Oak.
 
On Thursday, May 15, 2025, at approximately 2:11 p.m., Montgomery County 3rd District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the location and located a 2-year-old boy who had reportedly fallen from a balcony and landed in the bushes, fifteen stories below.
 
The child was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to the medical staff, the child’s injuries include a broken leg and multiple internal injuries, but he is expected to survive.
 
No criminal charges have been filed at this time. Detectives are continuing to investigate what factors contributed to the fall.
