Gaithersburg, MD – Members of the Montgomery County Department of Police Summer Traffic Task Force, along with partnering agencies, are devoting their full time and attention to detecting alcohol-related offenses this summer as the task force wraps up its fourth week.

The Summer Traffic Task Force is a coordinated enforcement effort that runs through the end of July and focuses on periods historically associated with increased impaired driving, including graduation events, prom season, and summer holidays.

Since the effort began on May 21, 2025, officers have conducted 358 traffic stops, resulting in 426 citations issued, 510 warnings given, and 49 DUI arrests.

**It should be noted that the above arrests include only those arrests made by task force officers and do not include the additional arrests made by patrol officers in the performance of their duties. Therefore, the overall number of DUI arrests made by officers during this period is higher.
