Gaithersburg, MD – 31-year-old, Lowell Isaiah Young of Frederick and 26-year-old, Daron Antonio Banks of Montgomery Village have been arrested and face multiple handgun charges after an officer interrupted an attempted assault on a community member.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 6th District Community Action Team (DCAT) were in the area of the Cider Mill Apartments when they saw two people, later identified as Young and Banks chasing another person through the apartment complex.

When officers approached the individual who was being chased, Young and Banks immediately left the scene and drove away in a 2020 Ford Fusion.

Officers learned the vehicle registration belonging to the Ford Fusion was suspended and the officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Christopher Avenue and Hellingly Place.

As Young and Banks got out of the car, officers observed a loaded 9mm privately made firearm (PMF) beneath the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

Young and Banks were both arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Processing Unit (CPU) where they have been charged with multiple firearm charges, including possession of a firearm without a serial number and possession of a loaded handgun in a vehicle.
