Detectives Investigate Veirs Mill Road Fatal Collision; Victim’s Identity Released

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in the area of Veirs Mill and Newport Mill Roads.

 

At approximately 8 a.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to the location for the report of a collision between a SUV and motorcycle.

 

The investigation has revealed that the driver of a silver Nissan Rogue was making a left turn from westbound Veirs Mill Road to Newport Mill Road when it struck a silver and black 2004 Yamaha YZFR6, which was traveling eastbound on Veirs Mill Road.

 

The driver and front seat occupant of the Nissan were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

 

The motorcyclist was ejected from the Yamaha and was transported to an area hospital, where he died on Friday, June 20. The decedent has been identified as 36-year-old Vincent James Rizzo of Silver Spring.

 

This is an active and ongoing investigation, and CRU detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call 240-773-6620.
