Gaithersburg, MD - Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District officers helped reunite a Missouri father with his two daughters, who had been reported missing three years ago.
On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at approximately 7:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Residence Inn by Marriott in the 7300 block of Wisconsin Avenue for a check-the-welfare call.
Upon arrival, officers observed three females—two children and one young adult female, believed to be in her late teens or early twenties—sleeping on the hotel’s patio. The children were wearing dirty clothes and did not respond or engage with officers. Concerned for their welfare, officers attempted to contact Child Protective Services (CPS) and requested the Mobile Crisis Team, which also expressed concern upon arrival.
As temperatures rose and concern for their well-being increased, all three were transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation.
During the investigation, 2nd District officers learned that the adult female was the mother of the two girls. A database search provided contact information for the children’s father, who told officers that his 36-year-old wife and their two daughters, ages 10 and 6, had been reported missing in Missouri. However, the case had not been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) because the family was last seen in Florida.
Officers contacted CPS again, and they responded to the hospital along with detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department’s Special Victims Investigations Division, who assisted with the case. The children’s father arrived in Montgomery County and has since been reunited with his daughters.
This is an active and ongoing investigation.
