Detectives Investigate Connecticut Avenue Pedestrian Fatality

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision, where 64-year-old Mairi Nicola Morrison of Garret Park died after being struck by a US Postal Service van.
 
On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at approximately 10:40 a.m., 2nd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Plyers Mill Road for the report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a US Postal Service van.
 
The investigation has revealed that the driver of the van was exiting the Mobil gas station in the 10600 block of Connecticut Avenue and preparing to turn northbound onto Connecticut Avenue. For reasons unknown at this time, Morrison was struck by the van while walking across the apron of the driveway of the gas station. The driver of the van remained at the scene. Good Samaritans ran to the scene to help Morrison until police and Fire Rescue arrived.
 
Morrison was transported to an area hospital where she died from her injuries.
