2025 Summer Traffic Task Force - Week 9

Gaithersburg, MD - During the ninth week of the Summer Traffic Task Force, officers from the Montgomery County Police Department’s Alcohol Initiatives Unit and Alcohol Enforcement Section worked with other law enforcement agencies to continue their traffic enforcement efforts across the county.
Between July 13 and July 19, officers conducted 107 traffic stops, which led to 17 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). In addition, officers issued 163 traffic citations, 144 traffic warnings, 7 equipment repair orders, 6 breath tests performed and 3 criminal alcohol related citations.
The cumulative totals since the start of the task force include 127 DUI arrests, 906 traffic stops, 1,164 citations, 1, 249 warnings, 84 equipment repair orders, 26 criminal alcohol related citations, and 41 breath tests performed. 
It is important to note that these figures represent only the enforcement actions taken by officers assigned to the task force. Additional DUI and related arrests made by patrol officers during this period are not included in this summary. Therefore, the total number of DUI arrests countywide is higher.
Participating allied agencies include the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Maryland State Police (SPIDRE Team and Rockville Barrack) and the Maryland Transportation Authority Police.
