For Immediate Release: Thursday, July 31, 2025

Gaithersburg, MD – A Germantown man is being held without bond after threatening to kill his 9-year-old son.

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, at approximately 10:14 p.m., Montgomery County Department of Police - 5th District officers were dispatched to the 19900 block of Stoney Point Way in Germantown for a report of a domestic disturbance. The caller stated that a man, later identified as 47-year-old Gokhan Dugan, was inside the home threatening to kill his child.

Officers spoke with family members and tried to deescalate the situation while attempting to communicate with Dugan. When officers entered the home, Dugan went into the kitchen and held a large knife to his son. Officers gave multiple commands for Dugan to drop the knife, but he refused.

A 5th District sergeant entered the home and deployed his Taser, causing Dugan to drop the knife. Officers were able to safely remove the child and arrested Dugan without injury to the child or officers.

Dugan was charged with first- and second-degree assault, second-degree child abuse, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest. He is currently being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
