Gaithersburg, MD - During the tenth and final week of the Summer Traffic Task Force, officers from the Montgomery County Police Department’s Alcohol Initiatives Unit and Alcohol Enforcement Section worked with other law enforcement agencies to continue their traffic enforcement efforts across the county.

Between July 20 and July 26, officers conducted 50 traffic stops, which led to 7 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). In addition, officers issued 58 traffic citations, 82 traffic warnings, 2 equipment repair orders and 6 breath tests performed.

The cumulative totals since the start of the task force include 134 DUI arrests, 956 traffic stops, 1,222 citations, 1,331 warnings, 86 equipment repair orders, 26 criminal alcohol related citations and 47 breath tests performed.

It is important to note that these figures represent only the enforcement actions taken by officers assigned to the task force. Additional DUI and related arrests made by patrol officers during this period are not included in this summary. Therefore, the total number of DUI arrests countywide is higher.

Participating allied agencies include the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Maryland State Police (SPIDRE Team and Rockville Barrack) and the Maryland Transportation Authority Police.
