Detectives Investigate Sandy Spring Road Fatality; Victim’s Identity Released

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred in the area of Sandy Spring Road and McKnew Road in Burtonsville.

 

The victim, 30-year-old Jazz Andrew Taylor of Columbia, MD, died in the collision.

 

At approximately 3:21 a.m., on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for a two-vehicle collision.

 

The investigation has revealed that for reasons still unknown at this time, a gray 2024 Honda CRV was traveling east in the westbound lanes of Sandy Spring Road when it struck a red 2007 Honda CRV, which was traveling west in the westbound lanes of Sandy Spring Road.

 

The driver of the gray Honda was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

Officers located an adult male driver, Taylor, inside of the red Honda. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

This is an active and ongoing investigation, and CRU detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call (240) 773-6620.
