Detectives Investigate New Hampshire Avenue Fatality; Victim’s Identity Released

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Saturday, August 9, 2025, near the 22000 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Brookeville.

 

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Patrick Adam Smith of Bowie.

 

At approximately 6:17 p.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a car.

 

The preliminary investigation revealed that Smith was operating a black 2006 Triumph Rocket III motorcycle and traveling northbound on New Hampshire Avenue when, for reasons still under investigation, he lost control and collided with a silver 2013 BMW 128i traveling southbound on New Hampshire Avenue.

 

Despite lifesaving efforts, Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the BMW, an adult male, reported no injuries and was not transported.

 

This is an active and ongoing investigation. CRU detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call (240) 773-6620.
