Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives with the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division, Missing Person and Cold Case Section have arrested a Silver Spring man in connection with a 2022 homicide at the Summit Hills apartment complex.
On Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, at approximately 3:05 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the 8500 block of 16th Street for the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found 29-year-old Nathaniel Potts, of Silver Spring, suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Potts was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
Through investigation, detectives identified 47-year-old Jason Duane Moore as the suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, charging Moore with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault.
On Tuesday, Sept. 2, members of the Montgomery County Police and the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Moore without incident. He was transported to the Central Processing Unit, where he was served with the warrant.
