Hyattsville Man Arrested for Armed Carjacking

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged 18-year-old Amilio Xavier Hernandez of Hyattsville with an armed carjacking that occurred on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Exxon gas station in the 10200 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring.

 

At approximately 2:45 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location for an armed carjacking.

 

The investigation has revealed that Hernandez and other unidentified suspects arrived in a dark colored SUV at the Exxon, where they blocked a parked Honda Accord near a gas pump. Hernandez and the suspects got out of the SUV and approached the victim who was ordered at gunpoint to get out of the Honda. The victim complied, and Hernandez and the suspects left the scene in both the Honda and the SUV.

 

Through Investigative efforts, detectives identified Hernandez as one of the suspects.  

 

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant against Hernandez, charging him with armed carjacking and related charges.

 

On Wednesday, September 10, Hernandez was arrested in Hyattsville and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
