Florida Woman Dies After Dickerson Shooting

Gaithersburg, MD – A Florida woman who was shot Friday afternoon while visiting family in Dickerson has died.

On Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at approximately 4:05 p.m., 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service personnel responded to a residence in the 23000 block of Mt. Ephraim Road for the report of a shooting.

Officers found 55-year-old Abby Elaine Dunn, of Tallahassee, FL, in an upstairs bedroom with an apparent gunshot wound to her thigh. Dunn was visiting her elderly parents, who live at the home. Officers provided lifesaving measures until Fire and Rescue personnel arrived. She was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, Sept. 13, Dunn was pronounced dead. She was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy, which was performed Sept. 14. The results are pending.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division – Homicide Section are investigating this shooting. No charges have been filed at this time.
