Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division, Robbery Section, are investigating an attempted armed robbery of 7-Eleven that occurred on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in the 8100 block of Fenton Street in Silver Spring. Detectives have released surveillance photos of the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance to help identify him.

The investigation has revealed that at approximately 9:05 p.m. the suspect entered the 7-Eleven and attempted to purchase two cigars. The clerk refused the transaction because the suspect did not provide proper identification. The suspect then loitered inside the store and waited for other customers to leave before walking behind the counter to approach the clerk. He reached into his waistband, implying he had a weapon and attempted to steal merchandise. The clerk reported seeing the handle of a handgun in the suspect’s waistband.

After unsuccessfully attempting to steal merchandise, the suspect left the store.

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 17 to 25-years-old, 5-feet, 6-inches to 5-feet, 9-inches tall, weighing 140 to 160 pounds, with a slim build, medium complexion, and a mustache/goatee. He was wearing a black beanie-style cap, black hoodie, black t-shirt, black jeans, and black sneakers.
