Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division, Homicide Section are asking for the public’s help in locating two suspects wanted in connection with a Sept. 21 homicide and kidnapping.
18-year-old Joshua Carter, and 25-year-old Justin Michael Greene Collins, both of Silver Spring, are accused of murder, armed robbery and kidnapping a man and a woman following the shooting death of 29-year-old Akwalabeng Fontava.
A third suspect, 37-year-old Sheldon Milan Boykins, of Hyattsville, is in custody and being held without bond.
Fontava was shot and killed inside an apartment in the 5900 block of Montrose Road in North Bethesda. Following the shooting, a man and a woman were kidnapped and forced into a car. The male victim was later released in Burtonsville. Detectives located the vehicle at Westfield Montgomery mall, where Boykins was found with the female victim.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Carter and Collins as the two remaining suspects. Warrants were obtained charging both men with first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping and two counts of armed robbery.
