Thirty-Nine-Year-Old Man Charged in Connection to Germantown Homicide

Gaithersburg, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division, homicide section has identified and charged a suspect in connection with a Germantown homicide.

On Saturday, November 8, 2025, at approximately 11:08 p.m., a Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District officer was patrolling in the area of Germantown Road and Middlebrook Road, when sounds of gunshots were heard coming from the Germantown Square Urban Park.

Upon arrival, 5th District officers, Maryland National Capital Park Police and Fire Rescue personnel located 34-year-old, Kendall Butler, of Germantown suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, Butler was pronounced dead on scene.

39-year-old, Michael Aaron Lynn of Germantown, 61-year-old, Kent Williams Jr., who has no fixed address, and a 27-year-old male were observed leaving the area of Germantown Square Urban Park following the sounds of shots. All three males were apprehended without incident. Both Lynn and Williams Jr., were in possession of handguns.

All three men were transported to the 5th District Station for further investigation.

Following the investigation, Lynn was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit (CPU) and charged with first-degree murder and other firearms related offenses. 

Williams Jr. was transported to CPU and charged with several firearms related offenses. 

Both, Lynn and Williams Jr. are currently being held without bond. 

The third adult male was released following the investigation.
