Crime Solvers Launches New Anonymous Tip Submission Option

For Immediate Release: Monday, November 24, 2025

Gaithersburg, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police, in partnership with Crime Solvers of Montgomery County, is announcing a new and convenient way for community members to submit anonymous crime tips.

Community members can now text “MoCo” to “73TIPS” to receive a direct link to an anonymous online tip form, where information can be submitted quickly, securely and without revealing the sender’s identity.

This enhancement supports the ongoing mission of Crime Solvers of Montgomery County, a long-standing program designed to engage the community in helping police solve crimes. The new texting feature offers residents an easier and more accessible way to share information that may assist in ongoing investigations.

Crime Solvers of Montgomery County emphasizes the importance of confidentiality. All tips remain anonymous, meaning:
• No name will ever be requested
• Calls are not recorded
• Phone numbers and online submissions are not traced
• Tipsters will not be asked to make a statement to police
• Tipsters will not need to appear in court

Individuals who provide information about a crime that occurred in Montgomery County that leads to the arrest or indictment of a suspect may be eligible for a reward of up to $10,000.

The Montgomery County Department of Police reminds the public that Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is not intended for reporting crimes in progress. For emergencies, call 9-1-1 immediately. For non-emergency incidents, call 301-279-8000.
