Collision Reconstruction Unit Investigates Good Hope Road Fatal Collision

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred on Friday, December 12, 2025, in Silver Spring. The collision resulted in the death of 41-year-old Tyrone Alexander Chappell, Jr. of Silver Spring.  

At approximately 9:05 a.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Good Hope Road and Good Hope Drive for the report of a collision involving a blue Ford F-150 and a black Acura RDX. 

Upon arrival, responders located Chappell in cardiac arrest. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead on the scene. The adult male driver of the Ford and a 4-year-old child were transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

The preliminary investigation indicates that while driving westbound, the Acura crossed the centerline and struck the Ford in the eastbound lane of Good Hope Road.
