Gaithersburg, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that resulted in the death of 80-year-old Roland Singleton, of Silver Spring.
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at approximately 9:47 p.m., Montgomery County Police officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to the area of East-West Highway and Washington Avenue for the report of a pedestrian struck.
The preliminary investigation by the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) has determined that Singleton was crossing East-West Highway when he was struck by a 2019 Jeep Cherokee traveling in the eastbound lanes.
Singleton was transported to an area hospital, where he later died on Saturday, February 21, 2026, as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
