One Person Shot; Two Suspects Wanted Following Germantown Grocery Store Shooting

Gaithersburg, MD — Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police 5th District Investigative Section are investigating a shooting that occurred inside a Germantown grocery store.

On Friday, March 20, 2026, at approximately 8:45 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the Giant Food store in the 18300 block of Leaman Farm Road for the report of a shooting.

An adult male victim was located inside the store suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that two male suspects entered the store and began chasing the victim throughout the grocery store. As the victim ran toward the front of the store near the checkout lanes, one of the suspects fired multiple shots, hitting the victim twice. At the time of the shooting, the store was filled with shoppers and employees, and customers began running and taking cover.

Detectives are working to identify the two male suspects and are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting inside the store to contact police.
