Silver Spring Dentist Charged with Sexual Offenses; Detectives Looking for Additional Victims

For Immediate Release: Monday, March 23, 2026

Gaithersburg, MD — The Montgomery County Department of Police Special Victims Investigations Division has charged a Silver Spring dentist with multiple counts of sexual offenses involving patients and believe there may be additional victims.

On Monday, March 2, 2026, an adult female contacted Montgomery County police to report that her dentist, 35-year-old Dr. Ermias Semaie, sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions during procedures at his office while there was not a hygienist in the room with the doctor and the patient.

During the course of the investigation, SVID detectives were able to corroborate the victim’s allegations.

SVID detectives also learned that a previous victim reported Dr. Semaie to the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners in 2018. His license was temporarily suspended, and he was placed on probation. No criminal charges were filed at that time.

Based on the 2018 report and the current allegations, detectives believe there may be additional victims.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Dr. Semaie with multiple counts of fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault. He was arrested on March 19, 2026 and released on bond.

Special Victims Investigations Division detectives are asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim or has information to come forward. Detectives can be reached at 240-773-5050.
