Gaithersburg, MD — Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The collision resulted in the deaths of 24-year-old Abraham D. Huracaya Del Aguila of Silver Spring and 24-year-old Alexander J. Medrano Cangalaya of Rockville.
At approximately 3:09 a.m., 1st District officers, Rockville City Police, and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Norbeck Road and East Gude Drive following an automatic crash notification to the Emergency Communications Center.
The investigation has revealed that a gray 2025 BMW M8 was traveling eastbound on Norbeck Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle entered into a yaw, crossed the center median, and hit a curb and a pedestrian signal before overturning. The vehicle continued through the intersection of Norbeck Road and East Gude Drive, struck another curb and pedestrian signal, and several trees before coming to rest in a drainage trench off the westbound lanes of Norbeck Road.
Upon arrival, Rockville City officers located the adult male driver and helped him out of the car. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Huracaya Del Aguila, the right front passenger, and Medrano Cangalaya, the rear seat passenger, were pronounced dead on scene.
