Bodycam Footage Released in Investigation of Montgomery County Man’s Death

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, March 25, 2026

The Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division (IID) is investigating a death that occurred in Montgomery County in December of 2025. On Tuesday, March 24, the IID released body-worn camera footage that includes the decedent’s interactions with Montgomery County Police Officers.

On Monday, December 15, 2025, Montgomery County police officers responded to a call from a concerned citizen regarding a subject’s welfare.

The officers located 31-year-old Jamal Thompson and interacted with him. Thompson was subsequently transported to a hospital for an evaluation.  

After he was turned over to medical staff, officers cleared the scene without incident. While in the hospital’s care, Thompson experienced a medical crisis and died on December 22, 2025.

Consistent with past IID cases involving MCPD officers and the department’s commitment to transparency, the following MCPD video provides additional context and should be viewed alongside the IID release.
