Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Investigative Section have arrested 65-year-old Alfredo Belbusti of Olney following a road rage shooting that occurred on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
At approximately 10:02 a.m., 4th District officers responded to the 3800 block of International Drive for the report of a shooting.
The investigation has revealed that an adult male victim was traveling in a pick-up truck southbound on Georgia Avenue near the Intercounty Connector (ICC)/MD 200. The victim changed lanes to pass two vehicles and then returned to his lane. At that time, Belbusti, who was driving a black Mitsubishi Outlander behind the victim, changed lanes, pulled alongside the victim and fired one shot. The bullet struck the rear passenger-side panel of the victim’s truck.
The victim followed the suspect to the 3700 block of Rossmoor Boulevard, called 9-1-1 and provided a description of Belbusti and his vehicle. The victim lost sight of Belbusti as he left the scene and continued driving on Georgia Avenue.
The victim drove to the 3800 block of International Drive, where he waited for police to arrive.
Through investigative methods, detectives identified Belbusti’s home in Olney and responded to the location, where he was taken into custody.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for Belbusti’s home and Mitsubishi, where items of evidentiary value were recovered.
Belbusti was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and related charges. He is being held without bond.
