Collision Reconstruction Unit Investigating Rockville Pedestrian Collision

Gaithersburg, MD — Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of a Silver Spring woman.

On Thursday, April 16, 2026, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Rockville City Police officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to North Horners Lane near Southlawn Lane in Rockville for a report of a collision involving a pedestrian.

Responders located 83-year-old Thuong Luu Thai of Silver Spring in the roadway suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to an area hospital, where she later died.

The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a black 2011 Acura RDX was traveling northbound on North Horners Lane when the vehicle struck Thai near the intersection with Southlawn Lane. The driver remained at the scene.

Thai’s path of travel remains under investigation and there were no signs of impairment.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
