Leggett and Floreen to Reaffirm Muslim Solidarity

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett and County Council President Nancy Floreen will sign a joint statement reaffirming the County’s solidarity with the Muslim community. The event will be hosted by the Islamic Society of Germantown at 19825 Blunt Road, in Germantown at 2:30 p.m.

“Council President Floreen and I want to make sure that our Muslim community knows they are valued and respected,” said Leggett. “They are an integral part of our County’s celebrated, diverse makeup.”

This event also marks the third Summit of Muslim leaders; and there will be reports on initiatives growing out of the previous summits including working with the Montgomery County Public Schools, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Montgomery County Police Department in support of the Muslim community.  

The Islamic Society of Germantown is a non-profit, independent organization that culminated from years of dedication from a group of fellow Muslims who started working on the idea in 1998.
