Leggett and Department of Housing and Community Affairs to Celebrate Success of Key Commercial Revitalization Projects in Burtonsville

For Immediate Release: Thursday, October 5, 2017

Saturday, October 7, 2017; 11 a.m

15500 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett will join Department of Housing and Community Affairs (DHCA) Director Clarence Snuggs, property and business owners, and community representatives to highlight the success of DHCA’s Façade Improvement Program (FIP) following the completion of several significant façade improvement projects in Burtonsville. They will be joined by Councilmembers Tom Hucker and Nancy Floreen.

Managed by DHCA’s Neighborhood Revitalization Section, the FIP encourages commercial property owners to update and enhance their property exteriors by offering up to a 50 percent reimbursement for costs for exterior building and site improvements, typically in exchange for a 15-year easement, which controls the property’s exterior appearance.

Note to Editors: Taste of Burtonsville will be running at this same location, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., with local cuisine, live music, face painting, balloon animals and children’s characters.
