For Immediate Release: Tuesday, April 3, 2018

Tuesday, April 10; 6 - 8 p.m.

Universities at Shady Grove (USG)

Building One, Auditorium 134

9630 Gudelsky Drive

Rockville, MD 20850

The month of April has been designated as “National Sexual Assault Awareness Month.” Every 98 seconds in the United States, a person is the victim of a sexual assault.

In conjunction with the nationwide awareness efforts, Montgomery County’s multidisciplinary Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) will host an opportunity for the community to learn about the many services the County provides to victims of sexual assault and their families. Tables with information about the various community resources will be available during the event.

The County’s SART works year-round on behalf of victims of sexual violence. The team’s goal is to make Montgomery County a place where victims can receive immediate comprehensive services, coordinated outreach, and assistance following a sexual assault or rape.

Speakers include: Senior Assistant State’s Attorney and Chief, Special Victims Division Debbie Feinstein; Director of the Family Justice Center Tom Manion, Lieutenant Jordan Satinsky, Montgomery County Police Special Victims Unit; Dr. Rafiah Prince, Trauma Services, Victim Assistance & Sexual AssaultProgram (VASAP), and personal messages from a survivor(s) of sexual assault.

Note: SART members are inviting the public to come together to stand in defiance and solidarity against sexual violence. Immediately following the event, weather permitting, a Vigil will be held outside Building One in the USG Courtyard. Inclement weather location: inside the auditorium.
