Council Spotlight

PREVENTING CHILD ABUSE

The Montgomery County Council on April 18 joined the national effort to address child abuse when it declared April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. In ceremonies led by Councilmember Sidney Katz, the Council recognized the outstanding work of the Tree House Child Assessment Center of Montgomery County, which is a public-private partnership between the Primary Care Coalition of Montgomery County and the County Department of Health and Human Services. Tree House has been meeting the mental health needs of children and adolescents since 2002. Among those at the ceremonies in Rockville were, left to right: Evelyn Shuket, Lorena Guido and Tom Grazio of Tree House; Councilmember Katz; and Angela Cabellon and Lisa Merkin of the County’s Department of Health and Human Service.
