Educational Credentials for a Lifetime

Eighteen students were awarded their high school diploma or GED at the 12th annual commencement ceremony held at the County’s Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (DOCR) County Correctional Facility.  Education-pursuit is one of the pillars of the DOCR’s nationally recognized system to curb the rates of recidivism and change lives for the better.  According to the Council of State Governments, individuals participating in correctional education programming had 43 percent lower odds of reengaging in crime than those who did not, with 13 percent higher odds of obtaining a job after release.
