Montgomery County Partners with MVA to Combat Under 21 Alcohol Use

Montgomery County’s Department of Liquor Control (DLC) has partnered with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration’s (MVA) Highway Safety Office to develop and print 2015 identification (ID) checking calendars for distribution to every establishment in the County with a liquor license to help ensure that underage patrons cannot buy alcohol.

The ID checking calendar is part of the award-winning “Keeping It Safe” public education campaign designed to educate businesses and the community on alcohol laws and social host responsibility. The calendars are being distributed at no cost to 1,010 County businesses and include monthly regulatory tips, important licensing dates and training schedules. Funding was made available through a MVA grant.

“The Department of Liquor Control will continue to act as a resource for businesses licensed to serve and/or sell alcohol in the County,” said DLC Division Chief Kathie Durbin. “We will do all we can to prevent the sale of alcohol to youth under the age of 21. These calendars are a great resource for the business owners and staff.”
