Taste of Wheaton Cancelled

For Immediate Release: Friday, June 3, 2016

The “Taste of Wheaton,” scheduled for Sunday, June 5, in the Wheaton Triangle at the corner of Grandview Avenue and Reedie Drive in downtown Wheaton, has been cancelled due to the forecast of severe, inclement weather. The event will not be rescheduled this year.

“The decision to cancel Wheaton's signature event was not taken lightly,” said Mid-County Regional Service Center Director Luisa Montero-Diaz. “While disappointing to all of us, we had to consider the safety of our vendors, performers and attendees.”

According to the National Weather service, there is a 60 to 80% chance of rain most of the day, Sunday, with thunderstorms. During the afternoon and evening, storms may become severe, with the threat of wind gusts and large hail. Heavy downpours may lead to localized flash flooding of small streams and creeks as well as urban areas.
