For Immediate Release: Wednesday, August 3, 2016

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett is pleased to announce The Public Technology Institute (PTI) had designated the County a “Tech Savvy” County for 2016. PTI's Local Government Tech Savvy Designation Award Program recognizes PTI-member local governments that meet a list of criteria where technology is used to address issues, current challenges and future opportunities across the enterprise.

“It is an honor to continue to be recognized as a first-class, local government that creates technology programs that serve our residents and businesses,” said Leggett. “Sonny Segal and his team of professionals in the County’s Department of Technology Services continue to blaze a trail toward an even brighter future for the County.”

PTI presented the Tech Savvy Award to six jurisdictions that have proven they have exceptional talent, great ideas, a spirit of teamwork and collaboration, creativity, technology leadership and proven technology best practices across the entire enterprise.

“To be judged by PTI to be worthy of this is quite an honor,” said Department of Technology Services Director Sonny Segal. “Our continuing efforts to provide innovative technology solutions to our residents and businesses make us ready for today and prepared for tomorrow.”

The five other designated jurisdictions are:

  • Durham County, NC
  • Evanston, IL
  • Mesa, AZ
  • Pinellas County, FL
  • Sacramento County, CA

PTI supports local government executives and elected officials through research, education, executive-level consulting services and national recognition programs.
