Montgomery Council President Berliner

to meet with media on Monday, Dec. 12

Among the topics he will discuss are the status of the bill

to increase the County minimum wage, microlending bill,

White Oak development, support for Marriott,

his goals for the upcoming year as Council president

 

ROCKVILLE, Md., Dec. 9, 2016—Montgomery County Councilmember Roger Berliner, who was elected to a one-year term as Council president by his colleagues on Dec. 6, will meet with members of the media at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, to discuss key issues concerning the Council and its respective committees. Among the issues he will talk about are the status of the bill before the Council that would increase the County minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2020. He will also provide details on a bill he is sponsoring that would create a microlending program for County entrepreneurs. He also will expand on his goals for the Council during his term as president.

 

Council President Berliner’s meeting with members of the media will be held in the SIXTH FLOOR Conference Room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville.

 

Council President Berliner also will talk about future development in the White Oak Science Gateway area. On Tuesday, Dec. 13, a supplemental appropriation of $47 million will be introduced before the Council that will be a major component in the project.

Another topic he will address is an $11 million supplemental appropriation that the Council is set to take action on this Tuesday that will be part of the State and County’s support for Marriott International to build a new headquarters in Downtown Bethesda.

 

Council President Berliner will meet regularly with members of the media. Most meetings will be on Mondays, starting at 11:30 a.m.
