Montgomery County Public Libraries’ Community Conversation Speaker Series Features Author Hena Khan

Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will present author HenaKhan as part of the Contemporary Conversations @ Montgomery County Public Libraries series. The free event will take place June 4 at 4 p.m. at the Silver Spring Library, 900 Wayne Avenue.

Khan is the author of It’s Ramadan, Curious George, which made international headlines when published. Other noted works include Golden Domes and Silver Lanterns, a 2013 ALA Notable Book and a 2013 Bank Street College of Education Best Children’s Book of the Year, and of The Night of the Moon, a booklist 2009 Top 10 Religion Book for Youth. Her book Amina’s Voice is the first to be printed by the new publishing imprint, Salaam Reads which aims to introduce readers of all faiths and backgrounds to a wide variety of Muslim children and families. The series offers Muslim children an opportunity to see themselves reflected positively in published works.

“Contemporary Conversations is the forum for residents to talk about cultural and current issues with experienced authors and journalists and to engage in enriching conversations,” said MCPL Director Parker Hamilton. “We are very excited to be able to bring these authors of such caliber to our libraries to talk about significant issues relevant to our community and our nation.”
