Ride On Service Changes Begin on Sunday, September 17; Includes Start of New Services

For Immediate Release: Thursday, September 7, 2017

Ride On will begin two new services on Sunday, September 17:

Executive Connector - Route 5, 26 and 81

The Executive Connector combines three existing Ride On routes to enhance service and provide a bus every 10 minutes during morning and evening rush hours.

  • Executive Connector buses will operate along Executive Boulevard and East Jefferson Street between Old Georgetown and Montrose roads, and serve the White Flint or Twinbrook Metrorail stations.

  • The routing of Ride On Route 81 will be altered to provide service along Old Georgetown Road instead of Marinelli Road.

Route 75: Montgomery County Correctional Facility/Clarksburg/Outlets/Milestone Center/Germantown Transit Center

Ride On will add new Saturday and Sunday service and extend weekday service until 11:30 p.m.

The route will serve Stringtown Road and Clarks Crossing Drive. Please note: Paper timetable maps may not reflect the new routing.

Other Changes:

  • Sunday service on Route 55will be extended to Rockville. All service will depart from the west side of the Rockville Metro Station.

  • The Monday through Saturday Route 10 schedule will be adjusted to better coordinate with Metrobus C8 along Randolph Road.

  • At the Medical Center Metro Station, Route 34 southbound will stop on Rockville Pike instead of going into the station. In addition, the stops for routes 34northbound and46 at Medical Centerwill move to Bay D.

Route Eliminations:

Routes 3, 93 and 94 were the lowest performing routes in Ride On’s system and will be eliminated. Consider the following options:

  • Route 3 alternatives (except on Dale Drive) include Ride On routes 14 and 24 along Piney Branch Road and routes 5 and 18 along 16th Street.

  • Route 93 alternatives (except direct service to the National Institutes of Health) include Ride On routes26 and 45  along Twinbrook Parkway and Route 10 along Parklawn Drive.

  • Route 94 alternatives include the Route 75  to the Germantown Transit Center, with transfers available for routes61 or 97 to the MARC Station
