State and local health experts are meeting to discuss cancer in the community on Wednesday, March 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Building. The public is invited to attend this panel discussion, which will cover a variety of topics including cancer rish factors, screening, prevention, treatment and facts about cancer clusters.
Attendees will also learn about the Maryland State Cancer Registry, facts about cancer clusters and learn how the Maryland Department of Health works with local health departments to respond and investigate cancer cluster concerns. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to address questions and concerns from those attending.
Presenters will be Travis Gayles, MD, Ph.D., Montgomery County health officer; Clifford Mitchell, MS, MD, MPH, director, Environmental Health Bureau, Maryland Department of Health; Brandi R. Page, MD; assistant professor of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Sciences and National Capitol Region director of education for the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine; and Chunfu Liu, ScD, MPH, MHCA, chief epidemiologist for Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.
The Civic Building is located at 1 Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring. The Civic Building is accessible by public transportation and is adjacent to the Ellsworth Drive parking garage.
