Office of Human Rights to Host Employment Seminar

For Immediate Release: Monday, May 14, 2018

Montgomery County’s Office of Human Rights (OHR), the Human Rights Commission and the Montgomery County Commission for Women will co-host an employment breakfast seminar on Thursday, May 31 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Silver Spring Civic Building located at 1 Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring. The free event is open to anyone who has questions about employment laws. The event includes a complimentary breakfast.

Women in the Work Place is the theme for the seminar, which will emphasize topics that women are often challenged with in the workplace. There will also be discussion and updates on emerging employment laws and regulations including sexual harassment, Earned Sick and Safe leave, age discrimination, tipped employee reporting requirements, minimum wage and the Ban the Box law.

“The workplace, while improved for women, still remains an area of continued challenges, barriers and unequal treatment,” said OHR Director James Stowe. "This workshop is designed to offer employers and employees information helpful in creating fairness for all workers.”
