ROCKVILLE, Md., May 16, 2018—The Montgomery County Council at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, is scheduled to reach agreement on the County’s Fiscal Year 2019 Operating Budget, the FY19 Capital Budget and the Fiscal Year 2019-24 Capital Improvements Program. As part of the meeting, the Council is scheduled to reach agreement on its budget reconciliation list, which includes funding for essential County programs and community needs that were not in the County Executive’s FY19 Recommended Operating Budget.

For the last six weeks, the Council has intensely reviewed the County’s operating budget after holding five public hearings to get input from residents about community needs and recommended service enhancements.  On Thursday, May 24, the Council will formally adopt the budget, which will go into effect on July 1.

At 1:30 p.m. the Planning, Housing and Economic Development (PHED) Committee will meet to discuss Zoning Text Amendment 18-05, Uses, Use Standards and Regulatory Approvals - Signature Business Headquarters. ZTA 18-05 would create a new review process for a headquarters or primary place of business that will locate at least 25,000 employees in a single metro policy area. The PHED Committee also will discuss Subdivision Regulation Amendment (SRA) 18-02, Administrative Subdivision - Signature Business Headquarters. SRA 18-02 is an accompanying ZTA that would allow for the creation of the Signature Business Headquarters category as a new limited use on commercial zoned properties.

The staff reports can be viewed here.

The Council’s session will be held in the third floor hearing room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville. The session will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM). The channel can be viewed on Cable Channels 996 (high definition) and 6 (standard definition) on Comcast; Channels 1056 (HD) and 6 (SD) on RCN; and Channel 30 on Verizon.
