For Immediate Release: Wednesday, January 15, 2025
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, starting at 1 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual public hearing to discuss the abandonment of the public right of way at the corner of Second Avenue and Fenwick Lane in Silver Spring.
At the hearing, the public will have an opportunity to present oral or written comments concerning the abandonment of public right-of-way covering approximately 6,693 square feet located at the southern corner of Second Avenue and Fenwick Lane in Silver Spring. The abandonment case was petitioned by the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County and the Alexander House Development Corporation (the “Applicants”). The petition seeks to abandon the Public Right of Way on the basis that there is no current or anticipated future public use.
Online registration is required by 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14, to attend. The day before the hearing, an email with a Zoom link will be sent to registrants. Those previously registered to attend the hearing are not required to re-register. Written testimony carries the same weight as oral testimony. Testimony and information provided will become a matter of public record.
