How to recycle / dispose recycling bins

We accept recycling bins for recycling

• picked up at your home, per a request from you
• at our bulky rigid plastics drop-off at the Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station

If you have a broken or no-longer-needed recycling bin at your home, and receive Montgomery County-provided recycling service, we will pick it up from you at no charge. Use our Collection Day Lookup tool to see how your recycling service is provided. Or, call 311 (or 240-777-0311).

To request pickup,

• Place your request online. Or,
• Call Montgomery County's Customer Service Center at 311 (or 240-777-0311).

Then, prepare your bin for pick up.

What happens to old recycling bins?

We recycle old recycling bins by shipping them back to our bin vendor. We receive a credit towards future bin purchases.
