How to recycle / dispose yard signs

Corrugated Plastic (Trash)

Yard signs made of corrugated plastic, or coroplast, are not recyclable in the County's recycling program and should be disposed of in the trash.

"Flimsy" Plastic Film (Recycle via Drop-off Only)

Yard signs made of "flimsy" plastic film - with metal stands removed - are recyclable in the County's plastic film recycling program.

• Drop off at the Montgomery County Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station for plastic film recycling.
• Drop off at Other Plastic Bag and Film Recycling Drop-Offs, such as at local grocery and retail stores throughout the County. Look for collection bins near store entrances.

Please do not place the "flimsy" plastic film in your blue recycling bin.

Coated Paper or Coated Cardboard (Recycle)

Yard signs made with coated paper or coated cardboard - with metal stands removed - are recyclable in the County's mixed paper recycling program.

• Drop off at the Montgomery County Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station for mixed paper and cardboard recycling.
• Add to your mixed paper and cardboard recycling cart for curbside collection.

Metal Stands (Recycle)

Metal wire stands are recyclable as scrap metal.

• Drop off at the Montgomery County Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station for scrap metal recycling.
• Schedule as part of larger collection of scrap metal items by requesting scrap metal curbside collection online or by calling MC311 (240-777-0311).

Please do not place the metal wire stands in your blue recycling bin.
